Excursions North of Concord, CA

Charles M. Schulz Museum – North in Santa Rosa, you’ll find the Charles M. Schulz museum which houses the largest collection of Peanuts strips in the world. Visitors can see a variety of Peanuts art work, watch documentaries and learn about the art of cartooning.

Bay Area Discovery Museum – The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a great place to visit if you have young children.  From imagination playgrounds and interactive exhibits there are many activities to keep young kids active, entertained and tired for the ride back home.  Be sure to arrive early as the parking lot tends to fill up quickly.

Healdsburg, California – Healdsburg is a short drive North up the 101 in Sonoma County.  Aside from the many wineries to visit, one can also canoe, kayak and play golf.  Spring brings forth festivals and fun weekend events.

Burney Falls – This waterfall about an hour north of Redding, California has been nicknamed the “eighth wonder of the world”.  Peak visitation begins in April and runs through October. The park amenities include campsites, RV Access, and boating activities. Once there, take time to enjoy the falls and explore the park on one of their hiking trails.

San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge – If you have driven north towards Napa through Vallejo, you have passed through a stretch of mudflats and marsh. This area is part of the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge.  Running along the north shore of San Pablo Bay in Sonoma, Solano, and Napa Counties in northern California, the refuge provides a protective habitat for wildlife.  The refuge is open year round during daylight hours and offers several trails for biking and hiking.
